    Subject: Security Management
    Form of study: full-time
    Subjetc´s goals:

    • The aim of the subject is to introduce the students the main aspects of the ensuring and managing the security at the regional and national level.
    • The subject explains the genesis of the security environment and the resulting security threats; it is dealing with their potential effects on the population and critical infrastructure. It explains the security system of the state as an institutional tool of security policy. It explains the issue of collective security and economic context in this area.
    • Processing of the case study leads students to the creative thinking and applying theoretical knowledge in the practice.
    Learning outcomes:

    Graduates of the relevant course will demonstrate:

    • skills:

    • Student is able on the base of knowledge of the security environment to describe and explain security threats and how to access to solving crisis situations in national, regional and global context. Student is able to use theoretical knowledge by defining the place and role of the national security system like as the institutional tools of security policy.
    • Student is able to apply acquired knowledge in solving practical exercises, can also assess the situation, draw and present conclusions. Student is able to practice knowledge in the management of small teams, to argue and defend the results.

    • competences:

    • Student is able to assess the security situation in the selected area, draw conclusions and recommendations for solutions.
    • Student organizes and controls the activities of small work teams. Controls the basic principles of public relations.

    Subject continuity:

    The course builds on Management, The Law of Security, Security and Defence Policy.

    Conditions for successful completion of the course:

    • The course ends with an examination.
    • During the winter course: individual case study, presentation of the results of case study.
    • During the winter course: 3-4 tests of results, group project and its defense, final exam.

  • T1_Introduction to subject, legal framework, principles of operation and control of security

    Educational goal: Introduce students with fundamental questions of principles of operation and control of security.

  • T2_Security system and crisis effect in system

    Educational aim: Teach students problems of system, its element, bonds and behavior. Get to know students possibility of origin of crisis phenomenon in system, its development and solving. Define the term security system.

  • T3_Development of security environment, actual security threats for the Czech Republic

    Educational goal: Teach students principles of security environment evaluation and its trends of development. Define security threats in general and specifically for the Czech Republic. Make student familiar with Security strategy of the Czech Republic 2011.

  • T4_Security system of the Czech Republic

    Educational goal: Introduce students with essential terms in selected area, place and role of security system of the Czech Republic as an institutional instrument of security policy.

  • T5_Critical infrastructure protection

    Educational goal: Introduce students with critical infrastructure in selected sectors and its defense in the Czech Republic and European Union. To give students information about responsibility of administrative authorities in defense of critical infrastructure elements

  • T6_The place and role of public administration in safety management

    Educational goal: Clarify the role and status of state administration and regional government in the safety management system at national and regional level. To improve the student´s knowledge of legislation.

  • T7_Education and preparation of citizens for security and defence of the country

    Educational goal: Introduce student legislative framework and the need for education of school students in issues of security and defence of the country. Get to know student with sense, the meaning and content of the concept adopted by the Government of the Czech Republic.
