Lecturer:  Richard Stojar, PhD.

Introduction:

The current security environment is highly dynamic, complex and uncertain. Countries have to face a number of security threats, not only of a military nature but also political, societal, economic and environmental challenges. At the same time, a high interconnectedness of the world determines the global character of a number of threats that transcend national borders. To combat those threats, close cooperation of a wide range of actors is required. As a member of the North Atlantic Alliance, the Czech Republic must assess its security environment on a global scale and participate militarily as well as non-militarily in addressing the threats the Alliance faces. The first part of the lecture will focus on explaining the concepts of the security environment, security threat and related terms, it will identify key global security threats in today's world and introduce global threats in the military sector of security.
